The Best Family Friendly Hangouts in Canggu

Being in Bali with the family means a lot of eating, beach time and fun things in between.  It’s also about finding amazing places to enjoy that’s easy and relaxing for everyone in your tribe.  It’s important to know where to go that’s good for the bubbas to frolic while you’re out for a great brunch and dreaming of the perfect latte. Night plans? There are pleasant finds for dinner destinations too where little ones are welcome.

Here are a few family-friendly places to keep on radar next time your group gets hungry and the kids come along. The best part? They’re all in Canggu.

Milk & Madu

Canggu residents will attest this café is a famous fave for a reason.  Apart from their amazing skillet eggs, pancake stacks or superfood bowl concoctions, their coffee is what you need to start your morning right. Best on the island.

There’s a lush picket fence garden and an impressive ricefield slash flower bed view where kids enjoy running around or take books and toys in a cute teepee.  They give coloring sheets, crayons and complimentary baby ‘cinos for the bubs. For weekends, arts & crafts, face painting, balloon twisting and muscial entertainment. Superstar staff, excellent dessert showcase and a cool deli with healthy Bali-themed goodies.

A great plus? They partnered with island smoothie sensation Nalu Bowls with a little cute shack of bowl heaven. There are cool shops around too and Gelato Secrets for the best frozen local blends.

The Joglo

Everyone living in Bali knows there are no playgrounds for kids to enjoy.

Guess again. This little kiddie oasis boasts of a treehouse slide, monkeybars, swings, seesaw and a trampoline.  There are toys, beanbags and a sandbox for those who want some quiet time too.  They have an extensive menu and collaborated with Luca’s Pizza, Made’s Warung and Little Munchers for an interesting food mix.

Another good extra?  Moms can take some time for Pilates or shop in the market and take a couple of edible things to share at home.  A great space for some family downtime.

La Finca

Open only for dinner, this Spanish restaurant is known for the delicious menu classics and fusion faves with delightful cocktails to match. La Finca has a big beautiful courtyard for kids to walk around in and play with the cute toys on hand.  Safe with a large child-friendly space. With friendly staff to help watch your kids while you savor some mouthwatering paella, gambas, seafoodplatters and croquettas. Monthly events such as movie nights, kiddie entertainment and parties are on the agenda. The best part? Your little angels can take their pick from a lovely menu and eat free. Want seconds? No problem! How’s that for an incentive?

A great addition? They get the best sunset sky hues as it turns to night giving it a truly romantic atmosphere while you try the buy one get one cocktails from 5 -7 pm.

Warung Goûthé

Run by a lovely husband and wife team with a unique concept, this humble and pretty space makes you feel so at home.  Bringing their French training to vivid life, they make homemade Brioche, loaves, tarts and flans giving an ambience of a European countryside. Serving only one item on the menu for lunch, it’s always a fabulous surprise you don’t look for anything more. Still hungry? They have a superb menu of paninis and dessert to give you a delighted grin aprés meal. They have a big gorgeous corner of children’s books and toys all boys and girls will adore. Drawing and coloring fun is encouraged and displayed for all to see. You leave the place so at ease.

What’s good? The intimate and calm vibe, not to mention the sweet owners and staff will inspire visit number 2 easily.

Berawa Kitchen

New in the hood but already a word-of-mouth constant recommendation, bean bags and low tables pepper the huge lawn under a bevy of fairy lights. They boast of 10 food stalls with so much to offer. From the best burgers in Bali, delectable Thai street food, sinful crepes to live for, a local warung, super fresh fish & chips, western delights and a lot of classics to love. Did we mention the cute little bar? There’s something for everyone that’s for sure. Nightly acoustic performances and the best vibe ever. Easygoing and chill is the theme here. Casual ootds and Havaianas welcome. What’s in it for kids? Playground fun with a slide and swing, a mini basketball ring and grass to run around it for hours.

Safe with a gated entrance, super friendly staff abound. Clean and green.

The best thing? You can choose several things for sharing on the low tables and soft cushion pillows, lovely music and local markets on the weekends. Family fun indeed!
